1. Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF)
RDF is a fuel produced by shredding and dehydrating solid waste to reach desired properties of fuel such as heating value, moisture content, density and specified size. It consists of large amount combustible components, for example, biodegradable waste and plastic. Separating the different elements found in waste streams is essential for enabling the recovery of useful materials, minimizing the amount of material sent to landfill and allowing recyclable materials to find a new incarnation. Although there would be different technology in order to make RDF, step by step RDF processing below could be a guideline for understanding.
Firstly, incombustible such as recyclable, glasses, stones, metals, hazardous waste are sorted out by hand or with assisting of machine, for example, magnetic separator. Secondly, shredder is used to decrease the size of combustible waste. Thirdly, shredded wastes are moved to an oven to reduce moisture content to less than 15% by weight. Since density is an important parameter at producing, high density products are desirable in term of transportation, storage and handling. Then, finally, pelletizing process is the last step for making RDF. There is however sometimes adding lime in the process to reduce air pollution when it burnt.

2. Gasification System for Electricity Generation
Gasification system is used to generate electricity for Genius Energy Company limited as a Very Small Power Producer (VSPP). Synthesis Gas of 1,500 Nm3/h is produced by roughly a half ton of RDF. There are two stages of power plant construction, install capacity of 400 kW at first and the rest of allowed capacity later on.

A 400 kW generator was installed and producing electricity flow through load distribution system in order to deliver the power into two areas, power plant building or self consumption (approximately 50 kW.) and Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) grid (350 kW) via 500 kVA power transformer.
